There’s no greater news than when you see two little blue lines (or a positive sign) on your pregnancy test. You are excited, nervous, and anxious and have a million thoughts going through your mind.
Fear not, mama, we are here to provide you with a few things to do once you find out you're pregnant:
Set up that first doctor appointment
Yes! You have a positive test but sometimes it can be a false positive. You will want to make sure that you get blood drawn to ensure that you are pregnant and take all the necessary actions from a doctor as needed.
Set up OB/GYN appointment
After you found out that you are pregnant, through a blood test, you are going to want to set up an appointment with your OBGYN so that he/she can start ultrasounds and keep you updated through out your pregnancy. Many doctors start early with vaginal ultrasounds so it's important to get in there.
Ensure you are eating right
You need extra nutrients now that you are pregnant. If you aren’t getting the right nutrients, and enough food, you can cause yourself to feel like you are going to faint. You are now eating for two.
Prenatal vitamins are necessary and will definitely be pushed by your doctor. The vitamins help the baby grow and ensure that they are getting the right nutrients in addition to the food provided through you. They might not taste well and have some minor side effects, but it is doctor's orders after all!
Drink water like you are a fish, no really. You need to make sure that you are getting enough water for the baby and yourself. If you are in the summer months, ensure that you are absolutely getting it you can cause yourself to get dehydrated quickly.
You are going to find that you are going to feel super tired and exhausted but aren’t really sure why, or even might find yourself restless. You need to make sure that you are getting rest whenever possible. Even if you just kick your feet up at night, which is still considered resting. Come in the later months, you will find yourself doing this much more than before.
Congratulations on being pregnant mama! Take the time to enjoy this special journey of your life. Don't forget to take monthly bump pictures for you and baby to look back on. Make sure that you schedule your appointments as needed!
